Andrew Lazoen

As a principal in the firm’s commercial tax practice, I specialize in tax compliance and transaction advisory services for the manufacturing and distribution industry. My focus is on helping clients navigate complex tax matters, reduce tax exposure, and maximize value through strategic planning. I primarily work with owner-operated, private equity-backed, and publicly held manufacturing and distribution organizations. As a member of the firm’s National Corporate Tax group, I also serve as a firmwide expert on tax consulting topics, including ASC 740, mergers and restructuring, transaction planning, opening balance sheet tax deferrals, earnings and profits tracking, and modeling tax law changes.

With over a decade of experience, I’ve evolved my skill set to meet the unique needs of each client. By working closely with clients to understand and manage their full tax profile, I help ensure coverage on a federal, state, and international level while connecting them with specialized professionals when additional expertise is needed. I enjoy translating complex tax matters into clear, actionable guidance, helping clients align their tax strategies with broader business objectives and identify opportunities as their organizations grow. Clients count on me to be their first call because of my responsiveness, proactive communication, and commitment to ensuring there are no blind spots in their strategies. Every business is different, and I take pride in developing tailored approaches that help each client build the right tax structure, stay informed about evolving tax developments, and remain focused on achieving their goals.

I hold a B.A. and an M.S. in taxation from Walsh College, and I’m a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA). I’ve presented at the firm’s Tax Break Summer Series, discussing how companies can maximize investments in facilities and equipment. Helping others by sharing what I’ve learned is a highlight of my job.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, getting outdoors when the Michigan weather allows, and unwinding with the latest docuseries. Whether it’s hiking, weekend gatherings, or a good documentary, I value the balance these activities bring to my life.
