Experience

As a leader in the manufacturing and distribution (M&D) assurance practice in Grand Rapids, I help organizations with their assurance, tax, and consulting needs. I mainly work with privately owned businesses as well as businesses that are held by private equity or employee stock ownership plans. I also help support the firm’s automotive M&D industry vertical because many of my M&D clients are heavily tied to the automotive supply chain.

My clients appreciate that I’m willing to go the extra mile to deliver outstanding client service. Around the office, I’m known for being a people person. Many of my colleagues are aware of my extreme sports past: wakeboarding, barefoot waterskiing, snowboarding, and skateboarding.

Because of my expertise, I was recently asked to present to a group of commercial lenders and credit analysts on the topic of new accounting pronouncement ASC 842 leases to prepare their lending and back-office for upcoming balance sheet changes. I also coordinated and led a West Michigan automotive industry event where I led the Q&A on “Reinventing the automotive industry.”

I belong to the AICPA, the MICPA, and the Heritage Christian School Board, where I serve as treasurer. In the past, I’ve been on the event planning committee for the GVSU Grand Valley Global Trade Center Annual Automotive Supplier Symposium. I earned a B.S. in public accountancy from Calvin University.

With more than 10 years’ experience, my greatest accomplishment has been balancing a demanding career with being a present, involved father to my three sons and daughter and a husband to my wife, Lindsey. I enjoy golf, deer and waterfowl hunting, and MSU and Spartan sports. My wife and I love chasing our kids and mixing and enjoying craft cocktails — but not at the same time!
