For the last 12 years, I’ve coached my two sons’ travel basketball teams, which has been fun and extremely rewarding and fulfilling as a parent.

Group Managing Partner, CPA, Commercial Industries

Experience

As a member of Plante Moran’s management team, I lead our commercial industries, including energy, financial services, manufacturing and distribution, service, healthcare, and real estate and construction. I help implement the firm’s policies and goals within the commercial industries while representing the views and best interests of the partners and staff while helping direct the firm as a whole.

My responsibilities include monitoring the group’s financial results, our financial strength, the effectiveness of our practice and administrative staffing, staff morale, overall practice professional standards, and the development and growth of the practice.

Previously, I served as the national manufacturing and distribution practice leader for three years. One of the things I enjoy most about working at the firm is the diversity of our clients and colleagues. The family-owned, owner-managed, and private equity-owned businesses we serve all bring their unique challenges and each day is different. I especially enjoy working with entrepreneurs who have a passion for growing their businesses.

Clients appreciate that I’m responsive and have a passion for superior client service. I look to drive value above and beyond compliance work throughout the client relationship. Around the office, I’m known for my positive attitude, strong work ethic, and creating and teaching others how to create a large, productive referral network.

I’m lucky to have a career where I enjoy the diversity of work and our strong culture of collaborative teamwork. With nearly 30 years’ experience, I consider my greatest accomplishment to be seeing the number of staff I’ve worked with over the years grow to become highly successful partners in the firm.

My alma mater is Indiana University and the Kelley School of Business, where I earned a B.S. in accounting. I’m a member of the AICPA and Illinois CPA Society. I was previously on the board of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago and currently serve on the board of the Geneva Golf Club as secretary. I’ve also volunteered with the Geneva Feeder Basketball Program.

I serve on many of the firm’s leadership committees and have moderated panel discussions on private equity, investing in the food and beverage industry at the Capital Roundtable in New York City and the Food Forum in Chicago. I was recently selected as a Crain’s Chicago Business Notable Gen X Leader in Accounting, Consulting and Law for the class of 2022.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy golfing, fishing, hiking and coaching basketball, along with traveling to new places across the globe with family and friends.
