Experience

Dave leads Plante Moran’s for-profit healthcare tax practice and is a recognized tax leader throughout the firm. He has more than 30 years of public accounting experience focusing on the healthcare, construction, and real estate industries and is known for his practical approach, creative ideas, and experience solving tax challenges for his clients.

Dave provides his clients with a wide range of tax services, including personal and business tax consulting; business purchase, sale, and liquidation; and general business planning. Although Dave has many years of experience working with large funds in real estate, he focuses mostly on closely-held and family businesses.

Dave’s industry experience includes general contractors, specialty trades, and real estate entities that operate primarily as flow-through entities. Recently, he has been working with many privately held companies on generational transfers, addressing a myriad of issues that go with that process including planning what’s next, tax implications, and general business success.

Dave serves as office managing partner of the firm’s Toledo office. In this leadership role, he provides direction and support to ensure the Toledo team has the knowledge, skill-set and practical resources to serve Plante Moran clients in the Northern Ohio.

Dave is a frequent industry speaker and trainer, providing insight on current tax topics and trends. He has a B.S. in accounting from Benjamin Franklin University in Washington D.C. Dave has also been named a “20 under 40” business leader in Northwest Ohio.
