Experience

As a leader with Plante Moran’s National Tax Office (NTO), I provide tax technical assistance to client engagement teams throughout the firm. My expertise includes federal corporate tax issues and Accounting for Income Taxes (ASC 740). My clients consist of both public and private companies, including those with extensive international operations, in the manufacturing, consumer products, services, life sciences, biopharmaceuticals, technology and financial services industries.

I was attracted to a career in tax because it’s the intersection of accounting and law, bringing together the best of multiple disciplines. I enjoy the challenges of problem solving — and that’s what the field of tax is all about. Sometimes, the issue and solution are clear. Other times, they’re less obvious, which requires me to strategize to find the solution. In addition to enjoying the finer points of tax law, I appreciate the opportunities to develop other tax and accounting professionals and see their passions for the job grow.

With more than 25 years of professional experience, I’ve presented on ASC 740 and various tax topics for the MICPA and the Tax Executives Institute (TEI). I belong to the MICPA (Federal Tax Task Force), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Bar Association. I’m also an adjunct professor at Walsh College, where I teach accounting and tax courses.

I received my B.B.A. in management from Adelphi University, my J.D. from Duke University, and LL.M. in tax from New York University. I’m a board member of the Detroit Metropolitan Youth Symphony and an officer of Hands On Tzedakah. I’m also a former board member and current volunteer for Tamarack Camps (previous treasurer and audit committee chair), the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

When I’m not helping clients, I enjoy skiing, golfing, watching college basketball and other sports, traveling, and playing piano.
