I’m a big music fan. During my college years, I was a full-time DJ, performing at various venues, music festivals, concerts, and private events in the metro Detroit area.

Experience

As a principal on our assurance team, I work primarily in our governmental practice, serving entities of all types including cities, counties, townships, villages, airport authorities, and special purpose entities. I also work in our retail auto dealer practice on audits, tax engagements, and a variety of consulting matters, including assistance with schedule reviews and reconciliations and performing departmental profitability analyses. Clients appreciate that I genuinely care about their organizations and am proactive to their needs.

I’ve always had a strong interest in accounting. After learning about the firm, its culture, and its valued clients, I knew this was the right place for me, and I’ve been here since 2008. My colleagues know me as a mentor with a vested interest in developing our teams. My greatest accomplishment is receiving the 2020 Detroit Office Dianne Wells Leadership Award for office leadership.

I’m a member of the Airports Council International – North America Finance Committee, the AICPA, MICPA, and the Wayne County (Michigan) Treasurer’s Association. In September 2022, I was elected by  industry representatives to be an associate representative of the ACI-NA Finance Committee Steering Group. In addition, I’m a member of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce and serve as chair of the American Arab Professionals Network. I serve as a board member for Zaman International, a nonprofit committed to facilitating change and advancing the lives of marginalized women and children. I’m also a member of the finance committee for ACCESS, which strives to enable and empower individuals, families, and communities to lead informed, productive, and culturally sensitive lives.

I’m a regular presenter at conferences hosted by professional associations, including the Michigan Government Finance Officers Association, Ohio Government Finance Officers Association, and the Airports Council International – North America. Recent topics I’ve presented on include the GASB technical updates and the importance of internal controls associated with online banking.

I have a B.B.A. degree and M.S. in accounting with high distinction from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife Aleen and my family.
