Stephen Bondar
Principal CPAExperience
As an assurance principal and an industry technical specialist within the firm’s manufacturing & distribution practice, I serve as a technical leader and resource for engagement teams navigating complex accounting, auditing, risk management, and reporting matters. My work focuses on technical consultation, engagement quality, practice scalability, and staff development. I specialize in advising manufacturing and distribution organizations, including privately held, private equity-backed, internationally active, and transaction-oriented companies. I also support teams with complex accounting consultations, business combinations, and high-risk engagement considerations.
Clients value my ability to translate complex technical accounting and reporting issues into practical, actionable guidance, and my collaborative, business-minded approach to helping them navigate change and make informed decisions. Around the office, colleagues know me for being a go-to technical resource who enjoys helping teams work through difficult issues, mentoring others, and finding practical ways to improve quality and efficiency across the practice. I’m passionate about solving problems, developing people, and continuously learning.
With more than a decade of experience in public accounting, some of my greatest accomplishments include helping build and scale technical support initiatives within the firm’s manufacturing and distribution practice, leading the development of firmwide technical guidance and training programs, supporting AI-enabled audit workflow innovation, and mentoring the next generation of technical leaders within the firm.
I earned my B.S. in accounting from Oakland University, and I’m a member of the AICPA and the MICPA. I regularly lead and codevelop firmwide trainings focused on technical accounting, audit quality, business combinations, engagement risk management, and emerging technology enablement within assurance workflows. Additionally, I’ve participated in commercial training series, new manager onboarding programs, and external webinars related to complex accounting and auditing matters.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Rachel, and our three children. I’m also an avid woodworker and home brewer.
