As a tax partner and the office managing partner for our New York office, I help shape the firm’s global strategy by working closely with firm leadership to advance key initiatives, strengthen international collaboration, and support growth in priority markets. I specialize in international tax structuring, transaction planning, tax audit review, and global compliance and reporting for a wide range of clients.

Before joining Plante Moran, I served as head of tax for a large public accounting firm and was a member of the firm’s global tax board. Earlier in my career, I was a partner at another large public accounting firm where I advised clients on complex international tax matters. During my time there, I became the firm’s first African American female tax partner, served as an international tax subject matter expert for its national private equity steering committee, and was the U.S. international tax services leader for the insurance sector.

I’m passionate about sharing knowledge and contributing to the profession. I regularly speak on global tax topics, teach at the university level, and have been featured in various media outlets such as Forbes, Bloomberg, NBC News, and Les Echos. On top of authoring articles focused on emerging issues in tax, I’ve also led podcasts about it.

Throughout my career, I’ve been recognized by numerous professional and industry organizations for my contributions to the accounting profession. In 2023, Accounting Today named me one of its top 100 most influential people in accounting, and the AICPA and CPA Practice Advisor named me one of the “Most Powerful Women in Accounting” in 2020. In 2025, I was inducted into the AICPA and CIMA Hall of Honor. I’ve also been honored by Crain’s New York Business as one of its Notable Women in Accounting & Consulting, received the Harlem YMCA Industry Achiever’s Award, and been named one of Long Island Business News’ Top 50 Women in Business.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in economics-philosophy and dance from Columbia University, a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, and an LL.M. from The Dickson Poon School of Law — King’s College London. I also hold an Executive MBA from Mazars University. In my free time, I serve as chair and commissioner for one of New Jersey’s busiest parking authorities; sit on the advisory board of a renewable energy company; and serve as a board member for the American Heart Association in New York City, where I’ve helped raise more than $10 million for women’s heart health, research, education, and STEM.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Michael, and our son, Michael Jasper — also endearingly known as MJ.
