Michelle Watterworth appointed to Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council

Partner Michelle Watterworth has been appointed by the Financial Accounting Foundation to serve as the AICPA-appointed representative on the Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council.

We’re pleased to announce that Michelle Watterworth, leader of Plante Moran’s national public sector professional standards practice, has been appointed by the Financial Accounting Foundation to serve on the Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council (GASAC), effective Jan. 1, 2024. As the AICPA-appointed representative, Michelle is the sole representative of CPA firms across the nation.

The GASAC advises the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) on project priorities, technical and strategic issues, and other matters that affect the standards-setting process. Members of the GASAC are responsible for consulting with the GASB and providing their expertise on technical issues on the board’s agenda, project priorities, matters likely to require the future attention of the GASB, organization and selection of task forces, and other matters as they arise.

Michelle will serve a two-year term and can be reappointed for up to two consecutive terms. She’s one of 15 members serving on this council.
