As the leader of Plante Moran’s national public sector professional standards practice, I get excited every day to delve deeper into the standards, explore new pronouncements, address emerging issues and share my knowledge with others. I collaborate with clients and internal engagement teams to uphold high-quality standards while at the same time, helping to make sense of what seems to be more and more complex standards, so that these rules are much more manageable to implement and understand.
With almost 30 years serving the public sector, my constant goal is to share my specialized expertise and enable colleagues and clients to efficiently address complex technical issues while providing them the implementation guidance and resources they need. I’m often asked to speak at conferences, such as for the AICPA, various state CPA societies, the Michigan Government Finance Officers Association and Public Pension Financial Forum, to share my knowledge in a practical and easy to understand manner.
I’m deeply involved in several professional industry associations, including the AICPA’s State and Local Governments Expert Panel, which I currently chair. There, I address accounting and auditing issues at a national level, often working directly with the Governmental Accounting Standards Board. I am also one of the select members of the Michigan Committee on Governmental Accounting and Auditing and am active on the AICPA Governmental and Not-for-Profit Conference Planning Committee. In 2022, the AICPA selected me for the Women to Watch: Experienced Leader Award.
