Bryan Johnson

When I was 10 years old, I was hit in the head by a homerun ball off the bat of Cecil Fielder. After my recovery, he invited me to his house for an introduction and some autographs.

Experience

I provide assurance and risk management services to publicly traded and privately held financial institutions. I have significant experience assisting clients in the design and implementation of an internal control framework to achieve compliance with FDICIA or SOX 404 requirements. As Plante Moran’s leader and expert in model validation and model risk management, I work with my clients to proactively address risks to protect shareholder value and minimize the risk of regulatory criticism.

I was attracted to this career because of the opportunity to interact and get to know a variety of clients. I enjoy learning about their situations, understanding their businesses, consulting on various challenges and issues, and advising them on key business decisions. My clients appreciate that I get to know them on a personal level and always keep their best interests in mind. Around the office, I’m known for having a positive attitude and sense of humor. My coworkers would describe me as resourceful and someone who solves problems before I’m asked to.

In my more than 15 years of professional experience, my greatest accomplishment has been developing a team of specialists that exceed the needs of our financial services clients. I’m a member of the AICPA and the Illinois CPA Society. I appreciate the chance to speak to clients, their boards, and at industry conferences, about topics such as CECL and model risk management. I received my B.S. in accounting with a minor in economics from The Ohio State University.

When I’m not helping clients, I enjoy golfing, hiking, and spending time with my family. I’m also an avid Chicago Cubs and Ohio State Buckeyes football fan, and you can often find me watching those games.
