People are always surprised to hear that my wife and I are high school sweethearts. We met in middle school but did not start dating until later in high school.

Experience

I’m a tax principal in our Chicago office, where I help lead our technology and banking verticals. In the banking world, I focus my time primarily in the Midwest, working with banks in the $500 million to $2 billion assets under management size. For the technology industry, I work with clients from pre-revenue through IPO as well as post Series A clients and those who are looking to leverage further relationships with private equity groups. Additionally, I support the firm and our clients with my expertise in ASC 740 accounting for income taxes and overall corporate taxation and planning.

Around the office, I’m known for my positive attitude, willingness to listen, and my approachability — and a good tax provision question or three. Clients appreciate that I’m responsive, empathetic, and able to explain tax concepts to even the most tax-averse individuals.

I was initially attracted to this career because I enjoy working with clients and serving a multitude of company types and structures. I’ve been a practicing CPA for 15 years, and my pride myself on helping my clients be successful and being a part of my staff’s career development.

Internally, I’m an office champion for PM Cares (our firm’s charity and volunteer initiative) and support our intern and experienced hire recruiting. I’ve also led internal training for ASC 740.

Annually, I’m asked to speak at the financial services symposium and CFO/C-suite tax update meetings, as well as participate in internal tax updates for the tech industry. I’m a member of the AICPA. I earned a B.B.A. in accounting from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater and a Master of Accountancy, taxation from the University of Notre Dame du Lac.

Outside of the office, I coach my sons’ soccer teams and play in an over-30s soccer league. I love fantasy football and watching sports. I’m a social golfer and spend most of my time with my wife, sons, and close friends. I’m also an active member of my church and am acting board chair for my sons’ school.
