Ed is deeply rooted in Plante Moran’s history, working with the firm for more than 40 years and serving as managing partner from 1981 to 1993 — taking over for founding Partner, Frank Moran. During his tenure, Ed helped the firm grow from a single office to several throughout Michigan and Ohio. He also help expand the firm’s practice offerings beyond traditional CPA services.

Today, as a “retired” partner, Ed serves as a consultant to Plante Moran, remaining active within the firm and maintaining a full client list. He advises closely-held and family-owned businesses in a variety of industries on business and accounting matters.

Ed is dedicated to the community and the education of future generations. He currently serves as board member and immediate past president of the Public School Academies of Detroit. He’s also the former chairman of University of Michigan-Dearborn Business School Advisory Board, current Trustee of the Thompson Foundation, and a former board member of Boys Hope Girls Hope of Detroit.

Ed graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science in business administration from John Carroll University. He later earned a master’s of business administration from the University of Michigan. Ed was also the recipient of the William Paton Award, a prestigious award given to the Michigan accountant receiving the highest score of the year on the CPA exam.
