I own a very small stake in the Green Bay Packers; however, as the only member of my family born in Michigan, I also grew up cheering for the Detroit Lions.”
Robert Malmstadt
Principal, CPA

As a firm principal, I specialize in international tax with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, international tax structure optimization, and tax compliance. I also assist with cross-border planning, ensuring clients are up to date on changes within the evolving tax landscape. The majority of my clients are internationally active, private equity and family-owned organizations in the manufacturing and distribution, service, and technology industries within the middle market.

Clients appreciate my ability to help them navigate the complexities of international tax while keeping their U.S. tax obligations in focus — whether they’re planning to expand outside the United States, enter the U.S. market, or need help addressing the various issues that come with cross-border transactions. With over 15 years of experience, I was attracted to this career for the opportunity to deal with complex areas of tax law while getting to know other countries and work with a diverse set of businesses worldwide.

Around the office, I’m known as a resource on international tax-related technical matters, and for being committed, enthusiastic, and always willing to try new things.

I hold a B.A. in accounting and an M.S. in tax from Michigan State University. I’m a licensed CPA and a member of the MICPA, ACG West Michigan, and the U.S. Branch of the International Fiscal Association. I’m regularly invited to speak at the Praxity North American International Tax Conference, where I present on various international tax issues.

Outside of work, I’m an avid golfer; I enjoy getting outside to play.
