Group Managing Partner CPA, Public Sector and Not-For-Profit Industries Auburn Hills

I like to get up just when the sun peeks out, grab a cup of coffee, and go outside to listen to the birds singing and identify them with the “Merlin Bird ID” app. I’ve recorded eagles, hooded mergansers, loons, and many others.

Experience

As a member of Plante Moran’s management team, I oversee our public sector and not-for-profit industries, as well as the employee benefits consulting practice. I’m responsible for helping to orchestrate and support the vision and growth of these practice areas.

With nearly 30 years of experience, including serving as office managing partner of our Auburn Hills location, leader of our K-12 practice, and a strong public sector and not-for-profit presence throughout my career, I’ve been well prepared for this role. I’ll continue to be invested in promoting client service, growth, and people development.

I became a CPA because I love the “public” part of public accounting. There’s a misconception that accountants sit at a desk all day scrutinizing numbers and spreadsheets; the reality is that we partner with people. Every day, we build and develop relationships.

It’s probably not surprising, then, that my colleagues know me as a people person. Whether I’m working with staff, school district clients, or not-for-profit entities, I bring a positive attitude to every engagement. In the office, I enjoy mentoring other staff members. Hopefully, I serve as an example that if they work hard, keep pushing, and stay focused, they’ll be able to contribute as future leaders in the firm.

Because I’m passionate about the accounting industry and promoting the field, I serve our profession in many ways, including participating on the MICPA legislative advisory council committee. I’m also on the board of the Chamber of Commerce of Auburn Hills, a member of the AICPA, the Michigan Schools Business Officials, and Construction Real Estate Women Detroit.

I have a B.S. in business administration with a major in accounting from Oakland University.
