Headshot of Joe Vloedman

I've always had an entrepreneurial itch. I started a business in college changing oil in students’ cars. Now, I still largely get to run my own practice, but I’m supported by brilliant colleagues.

Experience

I oversee audit engagement teams and serve as a client relationship manager. In addition, I belong to the firm’s professional standards group. As new rules or industry trends emerge in the ever-changing financial services landscape, I help develop solutions and education for our teams and our clients. Many of whom are financial institutions, investment companies, and registered investment advisors.

Through my first part-time jobs and college classes, I discovered a passion for serving and an inclination for finance. At Plante Moran I've found a way to deploy those gifts together. My clients appreciate that I can understand complex rules and offer pragmatic solutions while my colleagues love that I’m always the first one to start a pot of coffee in the morning. Relationships are all about knowing how to help others.

Throughout my career, I’ve presented at many conferences and webinars for various executive forums, board and audit committee meetings, and groups such as the Community Bankers of Michigan, Michigan Bankers Association, Perry Schools of Banking, and the Financial Managers Society. I'm also a frequent presenter at Plante Moran’s internal trainings. I’m energized by the opportunity to distill complicated financial matters down to actionable, practical solutions.

I received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Calvin University. I’m a member of the AICPA, the Michigan Association of CPAs, and the Western Michigan chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth. I’m on the board and finance committee of Ada Bible Church, where I also serve on the hospitality team.

I have four kids, and enjoy spending time with them coaching their soccer or T-ball teams. I'm also raising them to join me as huge Chicago sports fans.
