John is a Plante Moran tax partner specializing in providing tax planning, business valuation, and financial planning services to restaurants and food processors, real estate holding companies, service firms, and distribution companies. John also works significantly with family office clients and high net worth individuals, providing clients with tax and financial planning solutions, such as estate and gift tax planning, so they can grow their wealth for retirement and effectively meet their families’ future needs. 

John is known for bringing an intuitive understanding of the challenges that accompany tax complexity. By providing actionable insights into complex issues, he often pinpoints challenges and solutions before problems emerge. In addition, John develops close, long-term relationships with the families he serves, gaining an understanding of their goals and the legacy they wish to create.

John meets regularly with attorneys, bankers and investment advisers to keep up with the changes in the Chicago business community. He frequently serves as a speaker on tax issues and is on the adjunct board of the John Marshall Law School Tax Advisory Board. He has B.A. from Eastern Illinois University and an M.S. in taxation from DePaul University.
