My wife and I love to travel, both domestically and internationally. We have a goal to travel to all 50 states — only 15 left to go!

Experience

I specialize in accounting, financial reporting, and other business-related matters, and helping clients work through business and operational issues as well as understand and adopt new accounting standards. While most of my clients are higher education institutions, I also serve many in the manufacturing and distribution industry, with a focus on logistics and distribution companies. Additionally, I’m a member of the firm’s higher education professional standards team.

The nature of this field is dynamic and fast-paced, which is what initially attracted me to this career over 10 years ago. I love being a resource to my clients by providing valuable industry insights that allow them to anticipate future issues and mitigate potential problems. I believe in getting the work done in an atmosphere that’s fun and light-hearted — a fact my clients and my coworkers appreciate.

I’ve led or presented at several industry trainings related to higher education. Recently, I presented on the impact of implementing GASB 84 at the NACUBO Higher Education Accounting Forum. I belong to the National Association of College and University Business Officers, the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, the Central Association of College and University Business Officers, the Michigan Association of CPAs, and the AICPA.

I’m also a member of the Emerging Leaders Council of D.A. Blodgett-St. John’s. I have a bachelor’s degree in business administration/accounting and mathematics from Aquinas College.

In my free time, I love to golf. I also enjoy hanging out with my wife and kids, swimming in the pool, and working in the yard.
