Erin Kelleher
Principal CPAExperience
As a principal in our assurance practice, I work with health systems across the United States, specializing in financial statement audits, single audits, and employee benefit plan audits. I also assist with additional business-related matters, such as bond issuances, and work closely with clients to ensure successful completion of audits, making sure regulatory deadlines are met and new accounting standards and regulations are effectively and efficiently implemented. The majority of my clients are acute care health systems, stand-alone joint venture hospitals, and private-equity-backed commercial healthcare practices.
I was attracted to working with health systems because of the services and high level of care they provide for all people. My clients appreciate my organized approach to audits and my open-door policy. We stay in constant communication throughout the entire year to ensure I’m up to speed on all transactions, avoiding surprises or delays in the audit process. Around the office, I'm known for making myself available as a resource of technical matters and have been recognized by my peers as someone who is always available to talk through an issue or just catch-up on life. With over a decade of experience, one of my greatest accomplishments has been helping our teams design and implement new audit procedures to conduct audits more efficiently.
I earned my B.S. in accounting and finance and my M.S. in accounting from Grand Valley State University. I’m a member of several professional organizations, including the AICPA, the MICPA, and the Hospital Financial Management Association (HFMA), where I serve on the steering committee for the HFMA CFO Council. I’m also an active participant in the West Michigan chapter of Inforum and the Accounting and Financial Women’s Alliance.
I’m frequently invited to speak to clients, their boards, and at industry conferences about relevant topics, including compliance with federal award agreements, implementation of new accounting standards, and current industry trends. I’m also a leader in Plante Moran’s Women in Leadership initiative, which strives to help women reach their full potential in the workplace.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our three children, attending their various sporting events such as swimming, gymnastics, baseball, soccer, and football.
