I went to college at Western Michigan University where I tried out for the baseball team as a walk-on. I lasted three months until an injury ruined my sure-to-be-professional career, but that solidified my lifelong love of baseball.

I specialize in creative and practical tax planning and structuring to save taxes and improve cash flow and EBITDA (earnings before interest, depreciation and amortization) for my clients. Known for my proactive thinking and timely communication on new tax law changes, I try to make the tax-planning process fun; my clients know I’ll be smiling as I anticipate what might happen next — and after 25 years in the business, I’ve got a pretty good idea.

Relocating from Grand Rapids to contribute to the ongoing expansion of the Cleveland office was a true privilege. Since 2004, this office has tripled its staff, increased its client base, and helped solidify the Plante Moran brand in the northeast Ohio area. However, I couldn’t have done it alone — the expansion was a true team effort. You can’t grow an office like we did without being invested in your staff. I’m passionate about helping my team advance to the next levels of their careers.

I stay busy in the office, and my family keeps me busy when I’m at home. With a wife and three kids and a desire to travel, we’re always planning something. I also enjoy meeting friends for golf and tennis.

I’m a member of the AICPA and the Ohio CPA Society, and I’m on the Accountancy Advisory Board for the University of Akron. I’m a committee member with the Greater Cleveland Partnership.
