I still believe I was the best bullpen catcher in college baseball and I dreamt of going pro. However, you need playing time to do that, so my career never took off. Accounting was my fallback plan, and it’s worked out ever since.

Experience

As the firm’s healthcare practice leader, I guide a talented group of professionals, serving clients in the acute care, post-acute and senior care, physician practice, and other healthcare-related areas. As the former leader of our service industry, my experience and expertise as an exceptional team builder and strategic thinker has translated well to the healthcare industry.

My career has been focused on building practices and organizations. Whether helping clients build value within their organization or building practice areas within Plante Moran, my approach has always been to understand what is most important in building value, set a clear and concise strategy, and then lead toward achieving the ultimate vision.

Around the office, I’m known as a caring advisor who assists staff in growing into professionals who provide great client service, and I take a sincere interest in the professional development of everyone on my team. Because accounting is the underlying base of all business operations, I became interested in this career to help organizations become more profitable. Being a competitive person, I tend to never be satisfied with what has been accomplished so far, and I’m always looking for ways to help my clients become even more successful.

Throughout the year, I speak at various seminars, executive team meetings, and events about executive development and trends in the profession. Active in the Southeast Michigan region, I’m involved in various charitable activities, such as being a member of the Business Advisory Board for Life Remodeled and the Durfee Innovation Society. I have an advisory role with Oak Pointe Church, and I’m a member of the AICPA and the Michigan Society of CPA’s. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University’s Honors College with a B.B.A. in accounting, and have completed executive education programs at Harvard’s Business School.

My wife and two children are the focus of my time outside of work. I’m active in coaching my children in a variety of sports, and as a family, we enjoy the outdoors in Northern Michigan. Our latest family adventure was exploring many of the wonders of China, including a walk on the Great Wall.
