As leader of our housing and community development solutions group, I help developers, investors and nonprofits structure complex real estate transactions using federal, state, and local tax incentives. With more than 25 years of experience, I serve as one of the firm's technical resources on historic tax credits, New Markets Tax Credits (NMTCs), Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTCs), and other incentive-based financing strategies.
Throughout my career, I've helped clients structure projects ranging from small-town Main Street revitalizations to one of the largest historic rehabilitation developments in the country. I enjoy seeing firsthand how tax incentives can transform communities, create opportunities, and preserve historic places.
I'm passionate about sharing knowledge and regularly educating clients, staff, and industry professionals on tax incentive programs, transaction structures, and community development opportunities. I'm also a frequent speaker and author on these topics.
Prior to joining Plante Moran, I worked in fund and asset management for a regional syndicator and served as controller for an affordable housing developer and contractor. This experience gives me a practical perspective across the entire project lifecycle — from planning and financing through disposition.
I served on the board of Landmarks Illinois, "People Saving Places for People," and earned a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
