Headshot of Alicia Sturtevant

I started dance lessons when I was four years old. I’ve been trained in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, Irish step, and clogging. Even though I don’t have the time for it now, I’m still a dancer at heart.

Experience

As the firmwide trust tax practice leader, I specialize in assisting trustees with tax planning and compliance in relation to trust taxation, as well as formal trust accountings so that they can meet their fiduciary responsibilities. For more than 15 years, I’ve helped high-net-worth individuals and their families with income, estate, and gift tax planning, and compliance. Additionally, I assist with plans to financially provide for their heirs and charities once they’ve passed.

I was attracted to this career because I enjoyed working with numbers. Once I started putting in hours, what sustained me — and still does — is the ability to build personal relationships with clients and help them through some of life’s hardest moments, including planning for or helping after the loss of a loved one. While my career has evolved at Plante Moran, my greatest accomplishments include leading the firmwide fiduciary income tax practice, mentoring younger colleagues, and supporting women through my role as the Traverse City Women in Leadership champion.

I belong to the AICPA and the Michigan Association of CPAs, and I’m a board member and treasurer of the Estate Planning Council of Grand Traverse Area. I received a B.S. in business administration from Central Michigan University.

I spend my free time with my husband, Paul, and our son, Joseph. We enjoy camping, fishing, and traditional archery. If I have a moment to myself, I enjoy reading and cross-stitching.
