Headshot of Andy Basney.

My favorite Blackhawks game experience was seeing Patrick Kane score his 1,000th career point in early 2020.

Experience

As a leader in our wealth management practice, I provide various tax compliance and comprehensive tax planning services for family offices and ultra-high-net-worth clients with a primary focus on wealth transfer and tax-efficient strategies to help clients better achieve their personal and multigenerational financial goals.

I also provide tax services for privately held companies in several industries, with a focus on the services industry with clients that are growth-oriented and middle-market businesses in professional services, technology, and logistics.

With 25 years of public accounting experience, l have expertise in tax-efficient retirement planning and charitable planning strategies. I manage complex tax compliance and consulting engagements by collaborating with the overall engagement team, including family legacy services, National Tax Office, outsourced accounting, management consulting, and tax solutions group members.

I was attracted to this career because I enjoy solving problems, building long-term client relationships, and mentoring and developing the technical and leadership skills of colleagues. My clients appreciate that I’m a good listener, responsive to their needs, and strive to make the complex process of tax planning and compliance easier. Around the office, I’m known for being a diehard Chicago Blackhawks fan. My family and I are season ticket holders, but on school nights, we often offer our tickets to friends.

I’m a member of the AICPA and the Illinois CPA Society. I received my B.A. in economics from Bucknell University and my M.S. in taxation from Northeastern University.

I’ve served on the environmental and sustainability commissions for the Oak Park and River Forest communities. My work included creating a Bike Task Force that was responsible for establishing a community bike plan to make streets more cyclist- and family-friendly. I also organized a village tree walk with an arborist to discuss tree conservation and tree care. Additionally, I’ve served as the finance committee chair and cabinet member for the First United Methodist Church of Oak Park and am a Legacy Partners Advisor for the Lurie Children’s Hospital. When I’m not helping clients, I enjoy playing tennis, taking care of my yard and garden, and fishing.
