Headshot of Andy Basney.

My favorite Blackhawks game experience was seeing Patrick Kane score his 1,000th career point in early 2020.

Experience

I provide tax compliance and comprehensive tax planning services for business and individual clients in several industries, including professional services, real estate, and private equity. My primary areas of expertise include individual income tax, trust tax, partnership tax, gift tax and estate tax, financial and retirement planning, and charitable planning with donor-advised funds and private foundations. Additionally, I focus on personal professional growth and staff development of core technical and leadership skills.

I was attracted to this career because I enjoy solving problems, building long-term client relationships, and mentoring and developing colleagues.

My clients appreciate that I’m a good listener, responsive to their needs, and strive to make the complex process of tax planning and compliance easier. Long-standing clients know I have their best interests in mind, and they trust me as an advisor and tax preparer. Around the office, I’m known for being a diehard Chicago Blackhawks fan. My family and I are season ticket holders, but on school nights, we often have tickets to share with friends.

I have more than 20 years of professional experience and consider my greatest accomplishment to be maintaining excellent client service and team collaboration while adjusting to the sudden mandatory remote work environment in 2020. I advised clients through several pandemic-related tax laws as they were constantly changing.

I’m a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Illinois Certified Public Accountants Society. I received my B.A. in economics from Bucknell University and M.S. in taxation degree from Northeastern University.

I’ve served on the environmental and sustainability commissions for the Oak Park and River Forest communities. My work included creating a Bike Task Force that was responsible for establishing a community bike plan to make streets more cyclist- and family-friendly. I also organized a village tree walk with an arborist to discuss tree conservation and tree care. Additionally, I’ve served as the finance committee chair and cabinet member for the First United Methodist Church of Oak Park and am a Legacy Partners Advisor for the Lurie Children’s Hospital.

When I’m not helping clients, I enjoy playing tennis, taking care of my yard and garden, and fishing.
