As the leader of the tax solutions group at Plante Moran, I manage a team specializing in helping companies find ways to qualify for a range of federal tax credits and deductions. I have years of experience helping a variety of companies save money by claiming the research and development tax credit, employee retention credit, and energy incentives from the Inflation Reduction Act. I also work closely with our tax controversy team representing clients before the IRS.
Around the office, colleagues know me for being an early bird, taking team selfies, and not being afraid to show my sense of humor. What they may not know is that I changed professions when I went into accounting. I used to be an engineer, but I hated wearing steel-toed boots. At Plante Moran, I still work closely with engineers and manufacturers, but now I can keep my boots clean while walking in my clients’ shoes. I still build things, too — from client relationships to the firm’s own tax solutions group. When I joined in 2005, our group was just a handful of people; now it’s a large team spanning multiple offices and areas of expertise!
I’m a member of the AICPA and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. I often give presentations about tax-savings strategies focused on new and emerging tax incentives. I received a B.S. in engineering from Western Michigan University and an M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
When I’m away from the office, I like to go to book club (and sometimes read the book.) I spend most of my free time with my husband and two kids; we enjoy traveling to northern Michigan in the summer.
