A partner with Plante Moran, Michael specializes in providing business, tax, and accounting solutions to real estate and education clients throughout the United States. He’s known for his ability to provide creative and practical advice to clients and is a member of the firm’s professional standards department, which is responsible for the technical review of real estate financial statements. 

Some of Michael’s specific experience includes:

  • Providing auditing, accounting, and tax services to a variety of multi-entity clients in multi-family, single family, hospitality and commercial real estate development and management.
  • Managing real estate investment fund and multi-entity real estate engagements. He is experienced in solving tax issues for partnerships, limited liability corporations, and S corporations.
  • Historic and low-income housing tax credits and cost segregation projects.

Michael has more than 20 years of industry experience, including time as an interim CFO for a school district.  Most recently, his focus has been on advising real estate clients regarding the new IRS repairs and maintenance regulations. Michael is a frequent presenter to clients and their boards on current events impacting their organizations, including minimizing income taxes, cost containment, and revenue enhancement. He has a B.A. in accounting from Michigan State University.
