As a fan of craft beers, I’ve visited over 25 percent of the craft breweries in Michigan. When my wife and I travel, we enjoy visiting local breweries and experiencing that town’s style and approach to the craft brewery scene.

Experience

I’ve been with the firm more than 15 years, and what attracted me to this profession still rings true for me today. Every day, I’m able to assist others in maximizing the value of their business, increasing liquidity, and uncovering various tax savings. My clients appreciate that I can help them implement first-rate financial reporting processes and internal controls and, subsequently, reduce their tax burden by employing creative tax strategies.

Currently, the majority of my clients are private equity portfolio companies within the business services sector or contractors within the construction industry. I’m also part of our firm’s regional private equity team for the West Coast as well as Texas; therefore, I spend a lot of time building relationships with different organizations across the United States. I typically handle financial statement audit engagements for large, complex companies with numerous operations and provide expertise in analyzing and recording business combination transactions.

People may not realize that I’m the firmwide leader for our health and welfare benefit plan practice, and I’m a nationally recognized health and welfare accounting, auditing, and reporting expert. I’m frequently asked to speak at state and national conferences, and I’ve presented several times at the AICPA Employee Benefits Plan Conference. I belong to the AICPA and the Michigan Association of CPAs. I received my M.A. from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business after receiving my B.B.A. from there as well. Go Blue!

I enjoy spending free time traveling with my family. We enjoy trips to Disney World, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and South Haven, Mich.
