I also consult with high-net-worth individuals who are invested in businesses with multistate activities and high-net-worth executives in the area of incentive compensation. More recently, I’ve been advising not-for-profits whose alternative investments generate multistate unrelated business income.
I have expertise in nexus review and planning, voluntary disclosure representation, and audit and tax controversy representation. In our SALT practice, we also provide clients with services related to income and franchise tax, sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, property and transfer tax, and employment tax. I’m passionate about helping business and individuals minimize their state and local tax obligations within the confines of the law.
I’m deeply invested in our firm’s state and local tax practice. We’ve grown into a niche tax advisory practice with team members across the firm’s footprint serving clients across the United States. This enables us to expand service offerings for clients and develop the next generation of tax professionals and leaders.
I often speak on Michigan tax developments, multistate tax issues, and foreign inbound transactions at various conferences. I’m a member of the AICPA’s SALT technical resource panel, the Michigan Association of CPA’s SALT task force, the Michigan Chamber of Commerce’s tax committee, and the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce’s tax & regulatory affairs committee.
