I was a competitive figure skater for over a decade. In 2002, my team won the national synchronized skating championships in Lake Placid, N.Y., in the same arena where the “Miracle on Ice” hockey game was played.

Experience

As a member of the firm’s National Tax Office, I specialize in all tax aspects of the purchase and sale of family and private equity-owned businesses. My expertise in transactions includes both corporate and partnership tax matters such as structuring to minimize tax liabilities, modeling entity choice possibilities, planning for qualified small business stock (Section 1202), and maximizing deductions for transaction costs.

I enjoy working in tax because I’m able to work with a wide variety of clients and help them to achieve the best possible tax outcome for their unique situations. My clients appreciate that I help them navigate complex tax issues and come up with creative solutions that fit within their risk tolerance.

I’m an officer of the State Bar of Michigan Tax Council, and I often speak at events on tax structuring and other M&A tax topics. I received my B.B.A. in finance and business management from Northwood University, my M.B.A. from DeVos Graduate School, and my J.D. and LL.M. in tax from Cooley Law School. I’m a licensed attorney in the state of Michigan.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children. I also like working out, baking, and visiting zoos nationwide.
