Most people don’t know that I enjoy making fun dance videos with my kids. None of these have gone viral yet!

Experience

As the leader of our 1031 practice, I advise our clients on how to successfully complete Section 1031 deferred exchanges, transactions pertaining to partnership and S corporation structures, real estate professional taxation, and debt restructuring. I’m also a leader in our real estate owners and developers practice where I help solve complex tax transactions for real estate developers, owners, and operators and provide business advice that minimizes or defers their tax burden. My clients make up all asset classes in real estate: commercial, residential, investment, and homebuilders.

Around the office, colleagues recognize me for my experience with a broad range of real estate transactions. This background has fueled my ability to offer my clients creative and strategic tax-planning opportunities. I know they appreciate that the solutions I offer demonstrate a keen awareness and understanding of their unique business and personal goals.

With more than 15 years of experience, I’ve spoken at various conferences related to 1031, tax reform, and other real estate tax issues. I belong to the AICPA, CREW Detroit, and the Urban Land Institute of Michigan. I received a B.S. and  M.S. in accounting from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

When I’m not working, I spend my time with my two kids. Lately, as a parent, my interests seem to be whatever my kids are into. I also love to cook and spend time with family and friends. Whenever I can get out onto the water, I do it.
