I was born in the Netherlands. This means that I can’t run for U.S. President. However, I’m a Harley guy, and I’d rather ride a motorcycle than a campaign bus any day.

Experience

I provide tax and business advice to commercial enterprises, mainly in the manufacturing and distribution, service, and technology industries. With almost 35 years of experience, I understand the unique relationships that are inherent in middle-market businesses. Whether our clients are business owners, CFOs, or members of a finance department, we advise them on complex tax planning, tax structuring, mergers and acquisitions, and family business matters.

I got into accounting because I wanted to work with a variety of people and, hopefully, positively impact their businesses. At Plante Moran, I work in a field I love and for a firm I respect, making it easy to deliver exceptional client service.

Around the office, I’m known as a partner who leads by example. I believe in being fair and making time to work with staff whenever they have personal or professional challenges. Of course, bringing donuts to staff meetings is another way I demonstrate my caring nature.

I’m credited with developing the manufacturing and distribution tax network within Plante Moran. Working with other tax staff, I’ve developed a number of tools and templates that assist in identifying tax and business opportunities. I’m also responsible for attracting, recruiting and developing talented experienced hires, several of whom have gone on to be partners.

I’m a member of the AICPA, the MACPA, and the Illinois Society of CPAs. I have a B.S. in accountancy from Calvin University.

I love spending time with my wife, son and three daughters. We have a 32-foot motorhome, and it has taken us on many wonderful camping vacations.
