My husband and I literally built our own house. We pounded the nails, poured the foundation, and learned all we could about construction, permits, and Michigan lien laws. I’ve always attributed my interest in construction and real estate to this experience.

Partner, CPA

Experience

I became a CPA because I love the “public” part of public accounting. There is a misconception that accountants sit at a desk all day scrutinizing numbers and spreadsheets, but the reality is that we partner with people. Every day, we build and develop relationships.

I work collaboratively with my clients to maximize the performance of their organizations. For more than 20 years, I’ve been proactive in serving their needs and looking for opportunities for them to improve.

My colleagues know me as a people person. Whether I’m working with construction contractors, real estate companies, school district officials, or family office clients, I bring a positive attitude to every engagement. In the office, I enjoy mentoring other staff members. Hopefully, I serve as an example that if they work hard, keep pushing, and stay focused, they’ll be able to contribute as future leaders in the firm. Outside of the office, I love spending time at our lake house up north. It really is my “happy place.”

Because I’m passionate about the accounting industry and promoting the field, I serve our profession as a board director for the Michigan Association of CPAs and chair its audit committee. I’m also a member of the AICPA, the Michigan Schools Business Officials (MSBO), and Construction Real Estate Women (CREW) Detroit. I serve on the audit committee of Lighthouse of Oakland County. I’m a frequent presenter at state and local school business events and enjoy sharing our firm’s knowledge and expertise on hot topics relevant to our clients today.

I have a B.S. in business administration with a major in accounting from Oakland University.
