I advise organizational leaders on modernizing their technology and “smart cities” strategies, opportunities, planning, and implementing programs to improve overall business performance through IT capabilities. My public sector clients include villages, cities, counties, states, airports, and transportation organizations. I’m also asked to advise private sector clients, too.
Because I have more than 20 years of public sector IT leadership experience, I know what it’s like to be on the client’s side. That perspective has taught me how to leverage my knowledge and experience for my clients’ benefit.
I’m often asked to speak to clients, their boards, and at industry conferences like the Illinois Government Association; National Association of Black Public Administrations; and the Chicago Taskforce on Innovation and Technology. I’ve spoken about best practices and trends related to the government industry and digital transformation, including AI and smart technologies. I’ve been honored to speak at conferences discussing various facets of technology.
I belong to the Illinois and California Government Finance Officers Associations, Public Technology Institute Leadership Council, Chicago Taskforce on Innovation and Technology, National Forum of Black Public Administrators-Chicago (president), National Association of Parliamentarians, University of Illinois-BAN (first vice president), and World Chicago. I’m passionate about giving back to the community and serve the following organizations: Alpha Kappa Alpha, Monarch Awards Foundation (board member), Friends of Whitney Young (treasurer), National Coalition of 100 Black Women of the Chicago chapter (strategic planning and technology chair), Top Ladies of Distinction of the Will County Black Diamond chapter (technology co-chair).
I’ve been awarded Black History Maker-Women in STEM from Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., Top 10 Best CIOs of 2021 by Industry Era magazine, and chosen as Technology Leader of 2020 by Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.
I earned my B.S. in finance and real estate from the University of Illinois and my M.E. in education administration from National Louis University. I’m a certified Parliamentarian (CP), project manager (PMP), and government chief information officer (CGCIO).
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling with my husband and daughter. I also enjoy putting together puzzles, reading, spending time at the beach, and crafting.
