Headshot of Kelly Broughton

Although I grew up without pets (aside from an occasional fish), my husband and I now have three dogs — it's a full house.

As the leader of our healthcare practice in the Rocky Mountain region, I specialize in advising clients on financial best practices and industry trends. I have extensive expertise in internal controls, financial reporting requirements, mergers and acquisitions, and a variety of technical accounting matters related to healthcare, insurance, and the financial services industries. Most of my clients are hospitals and health systems, physician practices, insurers, and senior care and living centers.

The ability to work with people is what attracted me to this career. Healthcare has always been a passion of mine — and I enjoy being part of an industry that’s fundamentally designed to help people.

In the more than 10 years I’ve been with the firm, I’ve had many successes. I’m proud to have been part of the team that’s built and expanded our healthcare practice. I take a lot of pride in serving my clients — and in developing staff. In fact, helping launch our women’s network in the Rocky Mountain region was extremely rewarding, as are all the opportunities where I’ve mentored team members in their professional development.

I belong to the AICPA, the Colorado Society of CPAs, Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), Colorado Hospital Association, Colorado Healthcare Strategy & Management, and Women in Healthcare. I’m the chair of UNC’s Accounting Program Advisory Council and recently served on the advisory board of Innovest. I belong to the Denver Chamber of Commerce’s Healthcare Committee, the Women’s Leadership Foundation (charter member), and the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce (former board member and treasurer). In 2019, the COCPA named me one of three Leaders of Note via their “Women to Watch” Awards, and I currently serve as a director on the COCPA Board.

I received my B.S.B.A. in accounting from the University of Northern Colorado and my M.B.A. from Colorado State University. The Colorado Women’s Chamber has previously recognized me as an ATHENA nominee.

When I’m not assisting our clients, my personal interests include spending time with my family and friends near and far, volunteering at church, and keeping up with two young children.
