Headshot of Kelly Broughton

Although I grew up without pets (aside from an occasional fish), my husband and I now have two dogs — in addition to our two kids under the age of ten.

As the lead of our healthcare and insurance practices in the Rocky Mountain region, I specialize in advising clients on financial best practices and industry trends. I have extensive expertise in internal controls, financial reporting requirements, mergers and acquisitions, and a variety of technical accounting matters related to the healthcare and insurance industries. Most of my clients are commercial health care services entities, as well as commercial insurers, health plans, health systems and large physician practices.

The ability to work with people is what attracted me to this career. Healthcare has always been a passion of mine — and I enjoy being part of an industry that’s fundamentally designed to help people.

After over 20 years in this profession, I’ve had many successes. I’m proud to have been part of the team that’s built and expanded our healthcare practice. I take a lot of pride in serving my clients — and in developing staff. In fact, helping launch our women’s network in the Rocky Mountain region was extremely rewarding, as are all the opportunities where I’ve mentored team members in their professional development.

I belong to the AICPA, the Colorado Society of CPAs, ACG, Colorado Healthcare Strategy & Management, and Women in Healthcare. I have previously served as chair of UNC’s Accounting Program Advisory Council and the Audit Committee for the Colorado Society of CPAs (COCPA). In 2019, the COCPA named me one of three Leaders of Note via their “Women to Watch” awards.

I received my B.S.B.A. in accounting from the University of Northern Colorado and my M.B.A. from Colorado State University. The Colorado Women’s Chamber has previously recognized me as an ATHENA nominee.

When I’m not assisting our clients, my personal interests include spending time with my family and friends near and far, volunteering at church, and keeping up with two young children.
